A classic winter beanie, handmade from a blend of local Tiree fleeces, dark and light. Made from a mid weight yarn with a double layer on the ears for extra warmth. Knitted in the round with circular needles, there is no side seam in the hat.

Made to order to minimise waste, this is our version of slow and sustainable fashion at its best. Wool regulates temperature, keeping your head a comfortable temperature in any weather.

Hand spun and made by us on the Isle of Tiree from 100% Tiree wool. Did you know pure wool is sustainable, renewable, and hypo-allergenic? And no harm was done to our flock of orphan sheep, in fact, we do them a favour by taking off their winter coat to stop them overheating in summer.

  • Material: 100% pure new wool from Tiree sheep’s wool

  • Choose men’s or women’s at checkout. Women’s is approximately 8”/20cm long and men’s 9”/23cm. If you need a smaller or a larger size, just let us know in the notes when ordering and we’ll adjust it.

  • Contains lanolin (which keeps the wool soft and water repellent)

  • Sent to you in Organic cotton drawstring bag

Hand wash only in cold water. Reshape to dry. Keep away from direct heat as it changes the structure of the wool.

The process of making Tiree wool hats from scratch is quite lengthy: we wash the selected fleece, dry it, pick it and card it into “batts” to form fluffy clouds ready for spinning. After spinning two strands of single yarn, we ply them together to form the final yarn. The yarn is washed and dried, and then knitted into your hat. We carefully sew in the labels and send them to you them in our protective organic cotton bags. It’s a wonderfully slow and traditional way of making your hat, all done here by us on Tiree.

The colour blends are all created from blending different colour fleeces. All natural, no nasties added! As these are hand blended each hat is unique and colours will vary slightly. Please allow for the actual colour to be slightly darker or lighter than the images shown here.

10% of our profit is put into our Tiree Made island fund. That 10% is to be used to help more orphaned lambs just like our Bubble, Nori, Kelp, Popcorn, and the others. And, even more importantly it’s to help other people move towards and achieve their own inspiring Tiree story.
